OPERA America awards Carla Lucero a 2022-2023 & 2023-2024 Composer Commissioning Grant
Carla Lucero has been awarded a 2022 - 2023 Women Composer's Commissioning Grant from OPERA America for her opera-in-progress, TOUCH, with Opera Birmingham. TOUCH will premiere in 2024. (Marianna Mott Newirth, co-librettist.)
She has also received a second OPERA America Commissioning Grant (2023-2024) for her new opera, THE TOWER OF BABEL, commissioned by LA Opera, premiering March 2025. (Music and libretto by Carla Lucero.)
